Victoria Inn photo, Ontario heritage building on Rice Lake, OntarioYour journey begins at Victoria Inn, a charming century-old lakefront inn on beautiful Rice Lake just 90 minutes each of Toronto. Once you are settled in, enjoy a relaxing afternoon of orientation to the area's enduring Ojibwa heritage and beautiful natural landscape.

Depending upon the time of arrival, you can take a boat cruise on Rice Lake or go on a tour of the breathtaking new exhibits at the Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough. After a sunset dinner overlooking Rice Lake, engross yourself in settlement history readings by Catherine Parr Traill and Susanna Moodie.

Sculpture - native artOn your second day, venture north to Buckhorn to visit the 500 year old native rock carvings at Petroglyphs Provincial Park. Spend the afternoon at Curve Lake's Pow Wow. Save some time to visit Whetung Art Gallery, featuring an impressive selection of native arts and crafts. Head back south for dinner at Victoria Inn and a relaxing evening.
