Internet Safety
The
Canadian Centre for Child Protection is dedicated to the
safety of all children. Their goal is to reduce child victimization by providing programs
and services to Canadians. They do this through public awareness activities, personal
safety education programs and the
national tipline to report online sexual
abuse of children (Cybertip.ca).
• • • • • Protecting our
children Cybertip.ca is Canada's
national tipline for reporting the online sexual exploitation of
children. If you have information regarding incidents of child
pornography, luring, child sex-tourism or child prostitution you can
report it anonymously at
cybertip.ca.

Don't be scammed
We've
all seen the email messages trying to
sell us bogus medication, telling us a
long lost departed relative has left us
billions or that we've won the lottery.
A popular scam is the
phone call, often from someone
purporting to be from Microsoft, to
inform you that your computer is
infected and that immediate action must
be taken. The caller informs you that
they can remotely access your computer
and fix the problem for a small fee.
STOP...
if you receive these phone calls hang up
immediately.

Cell
phones aren't toys
Just
like your MP3 player or notebook
computer, your wireless phone is a
complicated electronic device. Moisture,
excessive vibration and impact from even
short drops
can permanently damage your phone and
void the warranty.
DO NOT
operate your phone in the rain,
fog or other damp environment.
Water damage and
impact damage are not
covered by the manufacturer's warranty
and most water damaged phones
or those with damaged
screens cannot be
repaired economically. Replacement costs
can be many hundreds of dollars. Treat
your TELUS phone like you would any
valuable high-tech piece of electronic
equipment.
